For macOS · Apple TV app

Overtitle

The subtitles your streaming app never gave you — floating over the video, perfectly synced, even in full screen.

Bring any .srt file. Pause, seek, buffer — the words stay locked to the picture.

How it works

Three steps. No stopwatch. No drift.

Older overlay tools made you start a timer and pray. Overtitle reads the real playback position and keeps a fused, buffering-aware clock — the words land when the actors speak.

1

Press play

Start anything in the TV app. Overtitle follows the actual playback position — windowed or full screen.

2

Drop in your subtitles

Drag any .srt or .vtt onto the subtitle bar. The next episode loads by itself.

3

Just watch

Pause, scrub, let it buffer. The clock pins, resyncs, and never runs ahead of the picture.

Why Overtitle

Built for the parts other tools gave up on.

True full screen

Floats over native full-screen video — the one place browser extensions and old overlay players can’t reach.

Real sync

Reads playback position from the system and fuses two clocks. Seeks and pauses follow within a heartbeat.

Buffering-aware

When the video stalls to load, the subtitles wait with it — no more lines racing ahead.

Bilingual display

Two languages in one cue, styled to stay readable over bright scenes: outline, shadow, or backing band.

Episode auto-pick

Name your files S01E01-style and the right one loads when the show changes episodes.

100% on-device

Your files never leave your Mac. No accounts, no uploads — the only network call is the license check.

Pricing

Pay once. Keep it forever.

No subscription — Overtitle runs entirely on your Mac, so there’s nothing to rent. Your license never expires; a year of updates is included.

FAQ

Fair questions.

Which video apps does it work with?

Today: the Apple TV app on macOS, with full sync (that’s where the itch started — iTunes purchases with no subtitles in our language). More players are on the roadmap; the overlay itself floats over any app.

Where do the subtitles come from?

From you. Overtitle plays any standard .srt or .vtt file you already have — it doesn’t download, host, or bundle subtitle content.

Does it modify the video or touch DRM?

No. Overtitle never decrypts, captures, or alters the video stream. It’s a separate floating window that reads the playback position — like holding perfectly-timed cue cards next to the screen.

Is my viewing data private?

Everything runs on-device. No accounts, no analytics on your media, no uploads. The only network request Overtitle makes is validating your license key.

What does the free trial include?

The full app with 3 hours of actual viewing time — pausing and setup don’t count against it. Enough for a movie and a real decision.
